We love Japanese food because of its flavour,its focus on fresh ingredients, the way its
presented and the fact that it’s so healthy. Basedin Launceston we noticed a gap in the market forsushi quick-service restaurants and decided that afamily friendly Sushi business would do very well.We were right!
Having previously worked long hours in a nightand day business we set out to establish SushiPlus with a more family friendly focus. In 2016we opened the first Sushi Plus on Charles StLaunceston with a view to growing it locally andthen franchising the business. With this end goalin mind, we developed a purpose-built system tokeep the business model simple and profitable.We wanted to ensure that even teenagers couldprepare our food. Our goal was to produce healthyand delicious Japanese food that was affordable,
convenient and fast. To distinguish our product,we created a menu that was mostly Japanese butalso influenced by other Asian tastes.
3 Locations and growing
Four years later we had achieved our first goal of growing the business in our local communitywith 3 locations in Launceston. So, in 2021, we embarked on the next phase of the Sushi Plusjourney to grow the brand nationally and have like- minded franchise partners join us.

– We value good old fashion customer service which in part explains why one in two of ourcustomers buy from us three to four times each week!
– Our business model allows foodies who want to work in retail to still have a life. We onlyopen 10.30am – 4.00pm Monday to Saturday so no late nights, no early mornings and aday off each week!
